Please present the awards to Tijana Haddad and Tina Čubriloda!

SANDRA PAOVIĆ “For the exceptional promotion of tolerance and understanding of diversity through sport”

Sandra’s life story far exceeds the boundaries of sport and spreads capillary into all pores of life. Sport helped shape her, but I believe that even without it, in everything she did, she would basically be the same “lioness” who considers life a persistent and uncompromising fight to achieve her goals. A little more than four years after the accident, in 2013, Sandra Paović began her incredible new sports journey in Croatia. and became a Paralympic champion in Rio in 2016. It was this journey from the abyss of life to the top of the world that was recounted in the book “Born to Win” in 2017 by Croatian journalist and publicist Željko Žutelija.2024. In 2011, Žutelija and Sandra Paović completed the second book about this exceptional athlete. The promotion of the book “I Love Life” is actually an extension of the first, and the reason is Sandra’s completely new life cycle. She loves to speak to young people, children, and young athletes the most. They say that Sandra is our heroine, she had the strength to come back after such an accident, she is an example for all people in the world, not only in Croatia. And as she said: “I love life. I believe that life is worth fighting for with the last atoms of strength. Even when they consider you lost or written off. You should strive to be the best.

The issues that the Festival raises are part of our everyday lives, and I particularly consider it important that this topic is raised among Zadar’s children and youth. We remind you of a great friend of Zadar, the late Branko Lustig… It is enough to repeat his thought that through this festival we are building a monument to tolerance, educating about the necessity of understanding diversity, talking about love and advocating for a better tomorrow! “, as the Mayor of Zadar emphasized.

With us are two people who have permanently marked tourism journalism in Croatia and the world, marked the role of Fiat in the promotion and development of tourism reports, doyens of tourism journalism, who will be awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Međimurje County has become one of only four regional destinations in the world that have the Green Destinations label for sustainable tourism. This is largely due to Rudi Grula, director of the Tourist Board of that county, who has been investing efforts in the development of tourism, maintaining competitiveness, preserving local cultural identity and preserving the physical and mental health of the local community for 20 years..Međimurje has thus become a synonym for sustainable tourism, with the prestigious Green Destination award. This is an award that makes Croatia proud, since we became the first region in Croatia and the fourth in the world to win this award.
