Grand Prix prize as the overall winner of the International Tourist Film Festival in Batumi for the movie “Međimurje – Green Destination with Ben Fogle”
From 1 to 3 10. In 2024 the Batumi International Tourist Film Festival was held in the Georgian city of Batumi, where the Tourist Board of Međimurje County won this prestigious award.
The evaluation jury stated in the explanation of the award, among other things, that the movie “Međimurje Green Destination with Ben Fogle” with its rhythm, stylistics and message completely deviates from the currently trendy production of such works. It is clearly visible from the movie that it is targeting an audience who has the patience to watch a six-minute video and who is interested in a truly sustainable tourist product, and the personality of Mr. Fogle gives this an additional seal…
The movie was directed, filmed and edited by Bobby Grubic multiple winner of the Emmy Award for television productions in the United States, as a musical background music from the album “Međimurski zdenci” by Ladislav Varga and Marko ulaerjav, also the shots of the naturalist Goran Safarek were used, and the script was created by the director of the Tourist Board of Međimurje County Rudi Grula. The main role in the movie was entrusted to the globally famous adventurer and travel writer Ben Fogle, hosted by PG Geler nature protector Mihaela Mesarić, director of the Tourist Board Visit Sveti Martin David Novinšćak at the filmuabnica mill, writer and songwriter Vladimir Mihaljević as a skeleton, owner of Pozojov vrčak /Dragon’s garden & Pozojova hiža/Dragon’s house Ivanka Horvat, owner of David Međimurska priroda – Javna ustanova Mirjana Biber Hren, students of the elementary school Strigova at Vidikovac Mađerkin breg , and valuable assistance with filming was provided by the President of the Association of Međimurje Horse Breeders, Matija Ladić. The curiosity in the creation of this video is that the materials for it were recorded in just six hours Ben Fogle spent in Međimurje.
The intention of the Međimurje County Tourist Board is for the film to be shown at other tourist film festivals around the world, and this start was more than successful.
The Georgian city with 180,000 inhabitants on the Black Sea coast, which hosted the festival, is popularly called “Black Sea Dubai” because of its huge investments in hotel and real estate businesses and on its riviera hosts 4 million guests annually.
