Upper Styria is synonymous with affordability, a guarantee of snow cover and the warmth of the local people. The first alpine ski area beyond Styrian Semmering is a place where time passes more slowly and pleasure comes first. A fresh winter forest “bath” recharges the batteries of health and helps to quickly forget about everyday worries.
Stuhleck
Stuhleck is the largest and most modern ski area in eastern Austria with a total of 26 kilometers of slopes. Fun on the slopes and action in the Stuhlecko region, all very close.
Skiers – early risers have the opportunity to enjoy the freshly groomed slopes with a guide from 7 a.m. Mountain breakfast in the w11 ski pass is included in the price.
The Brunnalm – Hohe Veitsch ski area also thinks of families with children. They have the opportunity to use the perfectly groomed 18 slopes. An interesting “joyful” accessory is made up of two magical carpets – something for the whole family and for individualists. A belt or carpet will take tourists to a smaller hill suitable for the first ski “descents” with the assistance of instructors from the ski school.
One of this year’s novelties is winter hiking in the Stuhlecko region. The lifts lead directly to the family circuit in the idyllic winter landscape for relaxation for young and old.
Stuhleck is also suitable for non-skiers. The cable car will take them to a restaurant overlooking the snow-capped Alps or villages in the valleys. Hiking trails also suitable for winter events lead from this place.
Nature lovers and adventurers will get their money’s worth. An experience even in winter is a walk to the highest accessible wooden cross in the world in St. Barbara im Mürztal – Veitsch. A smaller hike to the almost 41-meter-high cross is perfectly suited for energizing laziness in our hectic times. A panoramic view from the lookout on the cross is a pleasant reward.
The cross, built at the crossroads of Europe’s most important long-distance hiking trails, is a sign of peace and understanding between nations
Triple combination in one place
A triple combination in one place – this is sitting in the traditional costume café Trachten-Cafe Wernbacher, combined with a tour of Trachten und Tierwelt (The World of Folk Costumes and Animals) as well as distilleries in the presence of chef Edgar Wernbacher.
The world of unique animals is represented by stables of sheep and goats of rare breeds that are in danger of extinction. “We are proud of the fact that we participate in the continued existence of some animal breeds to a small extent. Our Ötzi was chosen as the most beautiful “Alpine stone ram” in Austria.”
“That is why it is a symbol and our emblem on every label of our quality spirits,” boasted the owner Edgar.
