The Mediterranean Tourism Awards were held in Malta on Thursday in the organization of the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation (MTF) , during which Ivana Vladović , director of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board, was presented with the SEA AWARD 2023 in the category of sustainable business. The Mediterranean Tourism Awards is an event that has been held since 2013 and at the same time represents the most important awards in the tourism sector in the Mediterranean area. The awards are given every year by the MTF to show innovative, responsible and sustainable examples of business in the field of tourism.
“It is a great honor for us that the Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County and all its potential was recognized and rewarded at such an important international event. This recognition confirms that we are going in the right direction, but we will not stop there. In further work, our focus will be even more on the sustainability, authenticity and quality of the tourist offer. Among other things, this is an excellent opportunity to connect and exchange experiences with tourism stakeholders from other Mediterranean countries and to get to know their innovative and sustainable approaches from practice”, said Ivana Vladović .
The entire event was attended by statesmen of the Mediterranean countries and tourism authorities from all over the world, while the main topic of the forum was the preservation of the Mediterranean way of life. In front of more than two thousand representatives, the Dalmatian vision of tourism was recognized by the organizers as a guiding thread and served as an example for many countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt, which are facing the problems of mass tourism.
